Home renovation with Accoya
A family home in Hertfordshire underwent a rear extension and a style refresh with the guidance and creativity of Pardon Chambers Architects.
The before and after photographs below clearly show the difference in appearance and functionality of the property. Downstairs now houses a beautiful open-plan living space for the whole family to enjoy. The choice of glazing completes this space, allowing plenty of light to flood in through the large glass panes, made possible with Accoya sliding window and door frames.
Bespoke joinery manufacturer, K&D Joinery (K&D), was brought into the project specifically for the sliding windows and doors. They designed and manufactured made-to-measure solutions using Accoya wood purchased from an approved distributor, James Latham. K&D also coated the joinery with Teknos before installing it into the family home.
K&D, the architects, and the client spent considerable time developing the most suitable color for the windows and doors. They wanted to color match the external siding and the internal finishes. Using Teknos enabled experimentation while providing a tried-and-true long lifespan on Accoya.
The external siding is also Accoya wood but purchased in the desired siding profile and pre-coated by James Lathams.
Although the upstairs windows are a different material to the windows and doors downstairs, the color-matched siding ties the aesthetic together beautifully.
Accoya is suitable for windows, doors, and siding as it is exceptionally stable and durable. The products stand the test of time, looking great for years to come.
