Accoya is a type of acetylated wood, a material that has been researched by wood scientists for many years before Accoya was introduced to the market. Long-term studies of acetylated wood have shown its outstanding performance.
There is also a standard European test for timber durability (resistance to rot) that allows direct comparisons between Accoya and other types of wood. Since the performance of other woods is well-documented, this test provides a clear understanding of how Accoya measures up. Both the Building Research Establishment (BRE) and TRADA (the UK’s leading independent timber research organization) validate the durability claims for Accoya.
