NIGIRI shou sugi ban charred Accoya designed and manufactured by reSAWN TIMBER co. was used on this Okoboji lake house in Iowa. Designed by Substance Architecture, the home is unified under a single shed roof and was designed to preserve the large existing trees on the lot, and to create a front courtyard which allows views of the lake through the house from the street.

NIGIRI can be used for interior or exterior wall cladding. It touches on the growing shift towards sustainably focused wood siding materials that require little maintenance and weather naturally in place.
