Reimagining a barn in the Hudson Valley took a dramatic turn when the client envisioned a daring set of arched red barn doors as the centerpiece of their project. New Energy Works was brought in to bring their vision to life combining salvaged church hardware with custom fabrication. The result is a striking focal point that blends heritage character with modern performance.
Accoya® wood was chosen as the ideal material for the doors thanks to its durability and unmatched stability. Accoya’s patented manufacturing process targets and changes the cells that cause wood to move, resulting in a substrate with exceptional resistance to distortion and an unmatched ability to hold paint finishes without peeling or cracking. Its machinability also allowed precise integration of the reclaimed hardware and custom joinery, ensuring the large, curved doors would function reliably for years to come.
The result is a striking set of double red entrance doors that balance knockout aesthetics with long-term performance. This project highlights how Accoya® makes it possible to deliver ambitious, bespoke designs that stand the test of time.
