Accoya Wood: Where Endurance Meets Elegance
Accoya played a central role in this refurbishment, aligning with the architect’s vision of authenticity, sustainability, and durability. The wood was used extensively throughout the project in both exterior and interior applications, including:
- Mashrabiyas: offering shade, ventilation, and privacy, while also providing a decorative element to the façade.
- Façades, decks, and roofing: exposed to the elements, where dimensional stability is critical.
- Interior flooring and paneling: creating a tactile, warm, and natural aesthetic.
Specifying Accoya was a deliberate commitment to longevity and a subtle yet powerful way to ensure the home’s materials age gracefully alongside the landscape — supported by native stone, straw, and glass.
Why Accoya?
Accoya’s exceptional dimensional stability makes it the perfect choice for demanding applications like mashrabiyas and decking in Brazil’s humid coastal climate, swelling three to four times less than traditional wood to preserve both structure and beauty over time.
Its durability is assured through termite resistance certification and a robust guarantee of 50 years above ground and 25 years in-ground or in freshwater, with a proven service life exceeding 60 years — supporting the project’s long-term vision with confidence.
