FSC® stands for the Forest Stewardship Council®, a certification system co-founded by WWF (World Wildlife Fund). FSC® is a global forest certification system with two key components:
By choosing materials such as wood with FSC® chain of custody means that the wood species or branded wood product comes from a forest that is responsibly managed. Trees in the certified forests are grown and harvested according to a strict set of guidelines that benefit the environment.
These guidelines include:
– Limiting the number of trees cut down
– Restricting highly hazardous pesticides
– Protecting indigenous people as well as wildlife habitats
The FSC® certification system allows consumers to identify, purchase and use wood, paper and other forest products produced from well-managed forests and/or recycled materials and a logo and certificate is provided for suppliers to use in their marketing work.
Accoya is FSC® Certified, you can verify our FSC® certificates below. Of course, FSC® approval is only one environmental label – there are many more which examine other factors such as CO2 generation, pollution and what happens to a material at the end of its life. Our fantastic material has been awarded multiple environmental certifications – some of the toughest in the world. You can find out more about all our environmental awards here.
