Unique Accoya conservatory

Unique Accoya conservatory

The homeowners for this property in London were seeking natural light in their north-facing home. As seen in the next door neighbors property, the addition of a conservatory created this space in a traditional manner. These homeowners chose to use award-winning architect firm, Tsuruta Architects, to design a unique and sustainable alternative to a conservatory.

The entire roof structure and the exterior siding is built using Accoya wood. The internal has been left uncoated showing the natural vanilla color, whereas the external has undergone the shou sugi ban technique to char the wood to a deep black and textured finish.

The large expanse of glass allows for light to flood in, which the angle of the roof enable rain water to drain away immediately, leaving the glass clear to enjoy views of the sky and of the garden.

This project has won 5 architecture awards since completion.
