The Forest Bailiff, commercial premises, London, UK

London

United Kingdom

The Forest Bailiff is a shop that specialises in wood burning stoves. It operates out of premises once occupied by Jeffries Fishmongers, a family business that had traded from there from the early 1900s onwards. When the new owners set about renovating the rundown property to a very high standard in 2009, their plans included replacing plastic windows with traditional wooden box sashes in keeping with the original style of the building.

London Box Sash Windows, manufacturers of high quality timber box sash windows, was commissioned to supply seven bespoke Accoya® wood windows. The modern ‘twist’ of high performance wood and double glazing combined with a traditional window design contributed to the restoration of the building to its original Victorian façade, whilst providing excellent thermal efficiency and durability. The windows were spray painted using an opaque Sikkens coating.

When we first introduced our clients to Accoya wood, they were very interested in its environmental benefits. They liked the fact that it is made using fast-growing, sustainably sourced, renewable wood and they especially liked the fact that Accoya’s durability means that their windows will be protected from rot for decades.”
