Accoya brings outdoor life to Finnish family

Private residence in Finland, Villa Lumous, has a large atrium courtyard which in 2014 had Accoya wood decking installed. In the same year the villa was entered into the Jyväskylä Housing Fair and it excelled in every category. The housing fair was attended by 114,000 paid visitors and by public vote the villa won the Best House award.

Accoya wood was chosen for the courtyard decking because it’s a high-quality material which only requires minimal maintenance. Villa Lumous also won Best Yard award at the housing fair. Four years on the decking has never been sanded or oiled. To keep it clean, it is simply washed every two years with decking cleaner.

The owners of the property considered the needs of their whole family when designing their home, including their active grandchildren. Accoya is incredibly weather resistant and stable. This was a very beneficial feature, making it ideal to be used around the pool. Accoya is a sustainable and non-toxic solution which will last into the adulthood of the grandchildren.
