Since its founding in 2019, Saunaboot GmbH has quickly developed into a highlight on the Swiss lakes. Starting with “Berti”, the first sauna boat in Switzerland, the company now has several sauna boats that offer their guests unique wellness experiences on the water.

Two of these boats are particularly noteworthy: “Berti” on Lake Lucerne and “Alice” on Lake Zurich, both made from sustainable Accoya wood. Berti is characterized by a deliberately simple design and impresses with the natural beauty of Accoya wood. In response to the successful debut, the second sauna boat Alice followed. Unique in Switzerland, it impresses with its gray Accoya Color Gray wood paneling and, like “Berti”, offers relaxing breaks on the water. Thanks to its exceptional durability and dimensional stability, even in direct contact with water, Accoya was the perfect choice for these floating oases of relaxation.

Accoya wood was chosen for the Berti and Alice sauna boats due to its impressive technical and ecological properties.

The wood is characterized by its resistance to water and rot and retains its shape even when exposed to persistent moisture. It hardly bulges or swells, making it a perfect choice for shipbuilding.

In Alice’s case, Accoya Color Gray, which is gray to the core, impressed with its lasting color stability. But beyond these technical advantages, Accoya also stands for sustainability. It is FSC-certified and carries the renowned Cradle-to-Cradle certificate, which confirms its sustainable origin and production.

Accoya cladding retains its shape and appearance throughout its lifespan, resulting in reduced maintenance and fewer repairs compared to traditional timber cladding. Because of all these advantages, the Saunaboot team chose Accoya again to ensure a sustainable, long-lasting and visually appealing design for their sauna boats.
