This beautiful private residential home is located at the Santa Manza Golfo in Bonifacio, Corsica, an island in France. It was extremely important that the best decking material be chosen for the newly built home due to the hot climate in Corsica. Therefore, the decking material would need to be able to withstand extreme weather conditions and direct sunlight while still being high-performance.

Accoya was in fact recommended by local contractor Alain Maisani from Maisani Bois, as he has worked with Accoya for multiple projects he has been involved in. He believes that it is a particularly reliable material and has only had a positive experience with it, therefore managed to convince the owner of the house as well as the architects, Bruno Féché, that Accoya decking was the only way to go ahead with this project.

For the new build 550m2 of uncoated Accoya was used for the pool decking and the first floor balcony terrace. The contrasting colours of the two terraces are a fantastic example of how different levels of sun exposure result in the wood fading to different shades. Notably, the higher up terrace, which was installed 1 month before the pool decking has faded into a light grey colour.

The decking was installed using the Grad decking system whereby an invisible clip-based system for the rapid installation of flawless, ‘hidden fix’, screw-free decking.

Alain has enjoyed working on this project and is extremely pleased with the decking outcome.
