What is a Casement window?

What is a Casement window?

Casement windows have hinges on their sides and open outwards and they are typically chosen to provide good airflow for kitchens and bathrooms or where there is an internal obstacle in a room that prevents a window from opening inwards.

French casement windows consist of two window panes side by side that both open outwards but that have no central frame between them maximising your view when the windows are open.

Sustainable and efficient casement windows

case study

Sustainable and efficient casement windows

Norfolk based joinery company, LJS Joinery, were chosen by local homeowners to replace old and worn out windows and doors. With no prior knowledge of Accoya wood the homeowners listened to LJS Joinery and are so pleased with the end result.

“It was a big decision to replace our existing softwood windows that were nearly 30 years away old – they were starting to breakdown and were not very thermally efficient anymore. I really didn’t know much about Accoya until we had our front door replaced earlier this year – been so impressed with zero movement that I decided to have all the windows and French doors replaced with Accoya. I am delighted we chose Accoya as a sustainable and very efficient product – we have noticed the difference already in terms of noise and heat retention – they look fantastic” Homeowner.

Window styles

Accoya wood is very versatile, ideal for many different types of windows to suit any home.
