This beautiful property located in the Cotswolds, UK, was in need of an upgrade to all existing windows and doors while maintaining the heritage style at the client’s request. Hawker Joinery did a fantastic job by replacing the joinery with slimline, double-glazed Accoya sliding sash windows and Accoya doors for the client’s property.
In order to adhere to the client’s requirements, Hawker Joinery carried out a detailed survey to avoid any recurring problems experienced with the existing joinery. After careful consideration, the joiners produced a CAD (computer-aided design) drawing for each item along with elevations in order to visualise the client’s vision and make final designs.
Multiple options were considered for the best, most durable timber. After reflecting, the client chose to use Accoya wood distributed by James Latham due to its 50 year rot and decay guarantee as well as its minimal shrinking and swelling, keeping the window airtight all year round. This addressed the problem with the existing windows, where the glazing bars fell off due to the movement in the timber.
All Accoya joinery at the property has polished brass fittings, slimline double glazing and coated with Sikkens paint system; thanks to Accoya’s stability, the coating will remain looking great for a long period of time. The 30+ Accoya sliding sash windows used around the property have traditional lead weights. For the side door screen and the 2 back door screens with French doors in the centre multipoint door locks were used.
