The Burrell Collection

At Pollock Country Park in Glasgow, a multi-million-pound renovation of The Burrell Collection saw the instalment of Accoya wood outdoor signage. The Collection re-opened to the public on the 29th of March 2022.

In total, approximately 6m3 of Accoya wood was used and manufactured into a family of 9 different types of outdoor signs. The 64 signage units included: entrance signs, large display maps, vehicle wayfinding monoliths, secondary entrance signs, pedestrian wayfinding monoliths, traffic signs, interpretation lecterns, ladder signs, and fingerposts.

Glasgow City Council worked with Landmark to research suitable materials for the signs and selected Accoya as the best material of choice. The timber is durable, sustainable and holds a warranty for 50 years above ground.

All Accoya signs have been left uncoated for a natural finish. A number of the signage items had detailed CNC engravings of Pollok Country Park’s famous highland cattle, as well as the park name and logo on the side of most units.
