STUA Headquarters: A Manifesto in Accoya Wood

In 2024, renowned furniture manufacturer STUA unveiled its new headquarters in Astigarraga, Spain. More than a simple showroom, this three-storey building — designed by Jesús and Jon Gasca — blends office spaces and exhibitions in a fluid, immersive experience.

Overlooking the Urumea River and a bamboo forest, it stands as a symbol of timeless design and sustainability.

To reflect this philosophy, the team chose Accoya wood cladding — a high-performance, acetylated timber known for its exceptional durability, dimensional stability, and natural appearance.

“The wood is performing wonderfully,” says Jon Gasca.
No surprise there: Accoya wood is built to withstand the harshest conditions with minimal maintenance.

Why choose Accoya wood cladding?

Why choose Accoya wood cladding?

The architects sought a cladding material that would combine aesthetics with long-term performance. Accoya wood cladding was the clear solution thanks to its:

  • Class 1 durability: resistant to moisture, rot and insect attack.

  • Outstanding dimensional stability: no significant shrinking or swelling.

  • FSC® certification: responsibly sourced and traceable.

  • Modern, natural look: a wood that ages gracefully.

With these features, Accoya cladding ensures long-term performance without compromising design.
