Micklefield Hall, with its lovely views and stunning grounds, is the ideal setting for your country house wedding or private party.
Just 20 miles from central London, Micklefield Hall was built in 1740 and the central part of the house was then re-designed by Sir John Soane in the late 18th Century.

With historical records going back to 1260 when the land was obtained for the Abbey of St. Albans, the majestic oak in the parkland (officially dated by the Woodland Trust at 650 years old) also has a stunning 16th century Tithe Barn, which is currently part of a major restoration project.

The architect and engineer were tasked to build a safe structure and retain the character of 500 years of movement and ageing. Using Accoya, supplied by Abbey Woods, to clad the barn was chosen because of its stability properties and the added 50 year guarantee that Accoya comes with. The Accoya cladding was coated black and it will be left to colour naturally with age.

Generally, problems occur with dark coatings on cladding, due to shrink and swell being exasperated by the solar gain, but Accoya wood’s superior dimensional stability negates this problem and maintenance intervals are dramatically extended.

The owners of Micklefield hall are impressed with the Accoya cladding and hope to use this reformed barn for additional space for weddings and private parties.
