In the heart of West London, a refined extension transforms a traditional Victorian home into a space tailored for modern living. Designed by Lill Architects, the project reimagines an existing rear extension to deliver a sophisticated kitchen and entertaining space, seamlessly connected to the expansive garden beyond.

The intervention balances bold contrast with sensitive proportions, respecting the original architecture while confidently introducing a fresh identity. The result is a dialogue between old and new: a light-filled, minimal interior wrapped in textured, dark timber skin.

Accoya was chosen for the cladding. With its slim, stained timber profiles and seamless secret fixings, it brings a sense of contemporary elegance that subtly defines the extension as a distinct architectural layer.

The timber was factory-coated for optimal performance, with Accoya’s inherent stability ensuring virtually no cracking, preserving the sleek finish and dramatically reducing maintenance over time.

Modified using a patented, non-toxic acetylation process, Accoya offers unrivalled durability and dimensional stability. Unlike unmodified wood, coatings on Accoya can last up to three times longer, preserving both aesthetics and performance.
