Shou Sugi Ban Accoya

Shou Sugi Ban Accoya

This unique gallery encases design and architecture, using rich, dark grey steel. To complement this, the exterior façade has been created using Shou Sugi Ban Accoya wood. The building is wrapped entirely in Accoya cladding, which has been through a process to char the wood, giving it a deep charcoal-black aesthetic, similar to that of the steel structures inside. This technique helps to weatherproof the wood, although having chosen Accoya wood, the cladding already withholds weatherproof qualities.

Accoya was the chosen wood because of its durability and stability to withstand nature’s elements. As well as its 50-year above-ground warranty and sustainability qualities. Accoya is FSC certified and this is a requirement of all products manufacturer, Delta Millworks, uses.

Delta Millworks was one of the first lumber mills to apply the Shou Sugi Ban technique to Accoya wood. This allowed them to preserve the benefits of the traditional technique, whilst offering additional benefits and features which excel in the timber industry.
