Accoya façade for Ski Chalet

Largest ski resort in the Middle East

A unique façade was chosen for these luxury ski chalets in Lebanon, just one hour from Beirut. Accoya wood fins have been placed on the entire building in a vertical direction, including over the windows, balconies and doors, acting like louvres to provide sun shading and maximum privacy and protection from the climate.

Despite the cold and snowy location, Accoya wood is an ideal material as it is exceptionally durable. The wood will not be affected by its surroundings and will withstand rot for up to 50 years.

This seamless continuation of Accoya wood elongates the building, creating a bold aesthetic. A total of 80m3 of Accoya wood has been used for this project with each fin measuring 50mm in thickness.

The wood has been coated with a grey lasur finish making the Accoya darker than it would be naturally and masking the weathering process. Overtime Accoya wood weathers to a silver grey patina and so by using a grey coating, the finished look should remain for years to come.
