Bernardes Architects chose Accoya for seaside apartments

These gorgeous residential apartments located in Rio de Janeiro at Atlântica Avenue are now considered a landmark at Copacabana beach. Around 10 m3 of Accoya was used across the 13 floors including the ground floor.

Architects, Bernardes Arquitetura decided to use Accoya wood cladding boards for the façade of this new build due to its fantastic durability and resilience towards harsh weather conditions and rotting. Accoya was supplied for this project by local Accoya distributor, CORE.

This apartment was built in the last remaining open space in front of Copacabana beach so it was important for it to stand out! By installing Accoya wood it has become the only building in the area to have a wood cladding façade. Bernardes Architects captured their cladding vision by using a solvent-based stain in a reddish colour sourced by Montana, a local Brazilian brand. The result is outstanding!
