Armadilla create luxury experiential garden buildings. They currently focus on two core markets, hospitality and education, providing a self-contained environment for the users. Armadilla offer a smaller ‘Pod’ or the larger ‘Wave’ design but both options are ‘eco smart’, meeting the sustainability ethos of Armadilla.

The garden buildings meet industry-leading insulation standards, have low energy air source heat pump technology and mechanical ventilation heat recovery. The smaller design, The Pod, can run off a one 13 amp electricity source.

By endorsing the concept of the ‘Circular Economy’, all elements of Armadilla products can be recycled, repaired or reused. This is why Accoya is the perfect material choice for the external cladding, with a 50 year warranty. Accoya is a new introduction for Armadilla, justifying their product as world-leading for its sustainability and durability.

Armadilla were awarded the 2020 Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation.

The Wave staycation

The Wave staycation

In 2021, five Waves were assembled near Fort William in the northwest of Scotland on a customer’s site. They were completed in the Summer which was ideal timing as the UK’s ‘staycation’ market had begun to boom after the ending of COVID restrictions. Since opening, the Waves have been almost fully booked.

The Wave was designed with six metre lengths of timber cladding, curved and bent to represent an organic wave-like shape, giving the product its name. The design was complex and came with challenges, however, using Accoya wood was the solution and brought the design to life effectively and reliably, knowing the structure will last for generations to come. Accoya approved distributors, International Timber, worked with Armadilla to source, manufacture and install the unique Accoya façade.

“It was great to do business with Armadilla’s who we have worked with for many years. The Wave is a great innovation from them, and we hope to provide Accoya for it for years to come. Accoya is a brilliantly flexible and versatile material which is great for project” Kevin Anderton, Senior External Sales, International Timber.

“The Waves now sit about 40 metres from the A82 near Ballachulish and have become a landmark on the road with traffic slowing to admire the Waves looking out over the sea loch” Archie Hunter, Managing Director, Armadilla.
