The University of Alberta Botanic Garden (formerly the Devonian Botanic Garden) is a stunning 240-acre property located in Parkland County, 15 minutes southwest of Edmonton, with cultivated gardens and plant collections, indoor showhouses, and extensive natural areas.
Visitors are greeted at the new Welcome Center, a charming and elegant pavilion featuring Accoya wood cladding. It contains ticket booths, a gift shop, a concession, restrooms, and importantly, a large outdoor canopy to accommodate functions.
The biomorphic form of the Welcome Center and its canopy was drawn from a tree, just as its material was. It’s shaped like a fallen leaf, which shades and shelters the building and its visitors. Click here to learn more about the garden.
