Housing company Triada wanted to create something special for the new expansion area ‘Assenrade’ in Hattem. It was important that the design respected this location using sustainable materials, as the traditional residential area surrounds a green oasis.
The architects, 19 Het Atelier, based their design for the 10 properties on a barn, creating wide and low homes. 19 Het Atelier specified only high quality, durable materials for the project. Accoya’s durability and dimensional stability benefits made it an ideal material for this project, and it was specified for the façade, window frames and pergola.
The Accoya used in this project was coated in black to give it the desired look. Generally, problems occur with dark coatings on wood, due to shrink and swell being exasperated by the solar gain. Accoya’s superior dimensional stability negates this problem and maintenance intervals are dramatically extended.
