Facades for Residential homes

Almere

Netherlands

In Almere near the water of the IJmeer and in the dunes, a completely new residential area has been built. Here the cladding, sheds and frame wood are made entirely from Accoya. Boogaerdt Hout has supplied the raw wood for the façade applications, frames and doors. In addition to the houses, the barns are also made from Accoya. The company Flow Facade Applications has taken care of the installation of the façade parts in collaboration with XL Wood. The Accoya frames are provided by Timmerfabriek Doornebal.

Accoya was chosen because of the excellent durability and the “green” character of this beautiful wood. The project is located in a wooded area in Almere close to the dunes. As a result, the resident lives in a tree-rich environment, but he/she experiences the ultimate feeling of the dunes.

The project called Boomrijk was designed by Evert Kolpa, architect and co-founder at Van Bergen Kolpa Architects. He says: “The houses fit in perfectly with a forest landscape. The roof is designed like a canopy, with leaf-shaped roof tiles in the colors of autumn. These colors have been specially designed for Boomrijk. With its thick, coarse stone, the facade resembles the bark of a tree. Living in a forest is about wood. We wanted this to be reflected in the face of the houses. That is why the frames and other parts of the façade are made of fine, light, durable Accoya wood whose wood structure is visible. It is a beautiful, natural combination. ”
