In Donnybrook, Dublin these terraced properties feature mirroring entrances to the homes. The only difference previously, was that one neighbour had a hardwood front door and the other had a plastic front door. Neither were long lasting or aesthetically pleasing material solutions and so the two neighbours chose to have them replaced. They both opted to use local manufacturer, The Period Door Company, and upgraded their existing front doors for the ultra-high performance sustainable wood, Accoya.
Neither of the clients had heard of Accoya before speaking with The Period Door Company but after learning about the outstanding benefits, exceptional durability and unrivalled sustainability, they were sold. Now the only difference between the two doors is the colour and the door furniture.
In total for the two doors, 5m3 of Accoya wood was used. For The Period Door Company, Accoya is a product they use consistently for its green credentials, stability, paint retention and because it’s a real wood, opposed to a composite product.
The doors were designed in house by The Period Door Company design team with every detail was bespoke. The two neighbouring clients received a full service from sales, design, manufacture, coating and installation. The doors were hand painted using Farrow and Ball and Colour Trend paints.
