Accoya was chosen for the façade and wooden terrace of a renovation and extension to a 300 m² villa in the heart of the Vaucluse region in southeast France.
The villa now connects to a wooden annexe via a large panoramic terrace, with both structures clad in vertical Accoya slats.
The Belgian owners chose Accoya having seen a similar example in the administrative centre of Mechelen. The area of southern France experiences a large swing in temperature and conditions between seasons, providing challenging conditions for many materials. Accoya’s superb durability in external applications supported with a 50 years above ground warranty, attracted them to the solution. With the owners saying of the Accoya, “after one and a half years, there was neither movement nor warping of the slats.”
Novlek provided the HardWoodclip fixings, with Norsilk manufacturing and distributing the profiled Accoya for the decking and the façade. Due to the unique 45-degree bolting process, the mounting screws are invisible, reducing the risk of injury when walking barefoot. The owners chose a minimum distance of 3 mm between each board which can be retained easily due to Accoya’s stability.
