The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation operates the world’s largest living history museum in Williamsburg, Virginia. In Colonial Williamsburg’s historic Area stand hundreds of restored, reconstructed, and historically furnished buildings.
The 1717 Design Group was selected to design a comprehensive signage master plan for the Historic Area in 2015 and implement the first of several prototypical sign types.
Accoya was selected as the ideal wood due to its sustainable credentials and the fact it requires very low maintenance.
The 1717 Design Group stated that Accoya is ‘a wonderful product and there is nothing quite like it for custom signage where sustainability is always critical.’
