On the island of Paros, the real gateway to the Greek Cyclades archipelago, the 5-star Parilio hotel is a real haven of peace. For all the joinery, Accoya wood was chosen for its great durability, dimensional stability and low maintenance requirements. A total of 250 pieces of Accoya were used for this 33-room hotel for interior and exterior doors and windows.

The hotel owners have 4 other establishments in Greece and for them, durability and longevity of materials are essential. With Accoya, they can rest assured that their joinery will last a lifetime. The close proximity of the sea and the persistent exposure to the sun meant the choice of Accoya was essential. Accoya is designed to last, it’s highly rot-resistant and is warrantied for 50 years.

Nestled in the greenery of Paros, bordered by pine trees and whitewashed fishing villages, the Parilio hotel welcomes its guests to a beautifully renovated building, respectful of traditions but using modern and high-quality materials. The original building consisted of 55 rooms designed in the 1980s. The new hotel required a complete change of interior and exterior spaces, the design of 33 suites, a reception area, a restaurant, a swimming pool, the surrounding area and a spa. Construction started in January 2019 and was completed in July 2019.

Kritikos Wood, an Accoya approved manufacturer located in Paros and Athens for 3 generations, has used Accoya wood for many years. He manufactured and installed the Accoya joinery for the Parilio hotel, taking just two months to complete the installation.

Thanks to the exceptoinal stability and therefore limited movement of Accoya wood, the paints and stains last much longer and require significantly reduced maintenance. All the joinery has been brushed in order to mask any imperfections which are likely to occur with intensive use, any marks will be less visible on brushed wood than on smooth wood.

During the renovation of the hotel, the teams of the Interior Design Laboratory, based in Athens, naturally wanted to echo the characteristic white architecture of the island, while creating discreet luxury with materials of natural origin like stone or wood, and a soothing colour palette composed of neutral white, grey, ocher and ivory, creating a result in perfect harmony with the surrounding landscapes.
