Natural timber for an elegant family home

Natural timber for an elegant family home

This beautiful family beach house uses Accoya wood cladding for the external façade, decking, window and door frames.

The brief for Mitsuori Architects was simple; to merge elegance with practicality. This home needed to be functional to meet the needs of the family but has not compromised on style. The design celebrates simplicity, clarity and natural beauty. The use of Accoya cladding for the entire façade creates a striking and dramatic feel, however, the natural and sustainable wood reminds us of the beauty in nature.

Using Accoya for the garden decking, window and door frames allows them to blend with the cladding, highlighting that simplicity can also be dramatic and beautiful.

All Accoya wood was coated using a bespoke stain to give the appearance of weathered Accoya. Overtime, Accoya naturally weathers to this silver grey patina but using Quantec by Quantum Timber Finishes the bespoke stain gave the weathered appearance from the outset.
