How is Accoya disposed of at the end of its life?

Accoya’s approach to end-of-life and customer reclamation endeavours to maximise material use. We reclaim off-cuts from manufacturers and use them in the production of Accoya’s sister-brand, Tricoya®. This ensures that waste wood gains a new lease of life while carbon remains locked in.

When it comes to end-of-life, Accoya wood is 100% recyclable and can be disposed of in exactly the same way as unmodified wood.

Accoya wood can also be composted, however due to its high durability, the process can take longer than unmodified wood.

Finally, because Accoya wood is non-toxic it can be turned into biomass briquettes for safe incineration, helping to reduce consumption of non-renewable energy.
