Accoya timber rainscreen cladding

Exterior protection with style and substance

The right choice of materials can transform a building project, not only aesthetically but also with regards to energy efficiency, weatherability and longevity.

Accoya wood is the ultimate substrate for rainscreen cladding – offering low maintenance requirements, industry-leading environmental and sustainability credentials, and the performance characteristics of the most durable tropical hardwoods. Accoya can also be machine profiled to exacting design and specification requirements.

Accoya can be left to weather naturally but is also a very stable substrate for coatings, resulting in significantly less maintenance than is the case for other timbers. Exceptional stability means that tolerances remain tight and distortion is insignificant, even with wide boards giving architects and specifiers the ultimate in design flexibility.

What is rainscreen cladding?

What is rainscreen cladding?

Rainscreen cladding is the most energy efficient cladding system for private homes and commercial buildings. The cladding is not fixed directly onto the building exterior but to a fixing system to create an air cavity and allow for continuous ventilation. Excellent for insulation purposes, preventing internal warm air from escaping whilst allowing external heat to flow up through the cavity and away.

It is important to choose a high-quality, resistant and durable material for rainscreen cladding to be most effective. Accoya is the ideal choice.

Sustainable Wood City

Case Study

Sustainable Wood City

Accoya wood was selected for a new building complex in downtown Helsinki, Finland. The buildings reach a maximum of eight stories tall and will be fully constructed of wood, including the supporting structures. This makes the project distinctly different from others and Accoya has been selected as the wood of choice due to the project having sustainability at the forefront of its mind.

The architects for this project wanted to ensure a spectacular display that was visually and acoustically pleasing. Accoya was a good fit for this.

Coatings & Finishes

A variety of colours and coatings can be implemented on Accoya cladding. Let yourself be inspired by a few examples.

Accoya has been chosen as the ideal cladding material for this KFC project. Located on the Bury New Road in Prestwich, this project marks a significant milestone as the first dual-leveled KFC Company store ever built.

For this natural aesthetic, the pre-finished Accoya profiles were given one (natural plus-ctec) base coat and three top (Sansin translucent) coats.

Accoya has also been used for a horizontal brise soleil, providing sun shading to visitors using the KFC drive-thru facility.
