200 George Street - Award winning architecture

Congratulations to the EY Centre at 200 George Street in Sydney, which has just won the award for International Project of the Year at the 2019 CIBSE Building Performance Awards. We are delighted that Accoya wood has contributed to the EY centre’s impressive award winning run. With all the automatic blinds throughout the building being made from Accoya wood. Adjusting throughout the day based on the influx of light.

The Ernst and Young centre in Sydney was completed back in 2016. We originally shared the project back then which you can read more about here.

But, having recently won yet another award for best sustainable building, we thought it would great to revisit and share the recognition of one of the most sustainably designed buildings on the cutting edge of modern responsible architecture.

The EY centre is one of Australia’s first fully LED lit buildings, with all blinds being automatic and made from Accoya wood, adjusting throughout the day depending on how much light is entering the building.

Designed by Francis-Jones Morehen Thorp, the office tower is a bastion of responsible architecture in a continuing evolution from traditional building designs.
