Channel 4’s Ugly House to Lovely House showcases innovative Accoya® Garden Decking
17 Nov 17
Accoya wood has been used within a modern garden regeneration project recently featured on Channel 4’s Ugly House to Lovely House.
The project, located in Bournemouth, exemplifies the true design capabilities of Accoya, the world-leading, high-performance sustainable wood, which is ideal for exterior applications.
The episode, which aired 1st November 2017, featured an innovative Accoya deck created using an Exterpark Magnet System - a screwless decking system with an invisible fastening arrangement. Designed by Karl Harrison, Director of Projects at Exterior Solutions, the decking concept needed to incorporate multiple spaces. The homeowner’s desire was for a BBQ zone, lounge area and dining area to be created suitable for the whole family. The modern design resulted in a deck that ‘floats’ ethereally across the garden.
Exterpark Magnet Decking was selected for this project to meet the client’s requirements of having no visible screws within the final decking design. The aluminium magnet tracks were placed over the Accoya and tacked into place. The Accoya which was supplied by James Latham, was then prepared so that the magnet clips fitted into place and guaranteed that the decking could be fixed and removed within seconds, should access be required. Accoya wood, which was finished in a light grey colour, was the perfect choice for this project due to its outstanding durability and high performance when defying the elements.
Laura Keily, Head of Marketing at Accsys Group, commented: “Accoya is a innovative wood product and ideal for external decking. Accoya wood is non-toxic, so perfect for the family home, and with its 50 year above ground guarantee, it offers peace of mind that it will withstand the test of time against rain, wind and the cold. We source our wood from FSC® certified forests, and have been awarded a prestigious Cradle to Cradle Gold standard in recognition of our environmental credentials, offering reassurance to the eco-conscious homeowner. This project is a perfect example of how Accoya can be used to reimagine an outdoor space.”
