Rowing Boats, the Netherlands

The first boats to be made entirely of Accoya® wood have been built in the Netherlands. Originally designed in 1958, the boats were previously built from tropical hardwood. However the boat builder, Koo-Boten, has committed to building only sustainable and environmentally friendly boats and Accoya® was therefore the obvious choice.

The wood was supplied in 25x200mm rough sawn boards which were planed, sawn, tightly bowed on a mould and glued. The company was very impressed with Accoya® wood’s ease of use and its dimensional stability. The boats are finished with Aquamarijn Yacht paint.
