Accsys Technologies and Timspec Specialists are working together to present two seminars on the benefits of using Accoya wood as a structural building material. They hope to captivate their audience, made of predominantly architects, specifiers and engineers, by showing them the benefits of using Accoya, a chemically modified timber created using Accsys’ Technologies’ proprietary technology. Eddie Pratt, who is Head of Business Development and the founder of Accsys Technologies will be delivering the bulk of these two presentations: one in Auckland on July 18th and then two days later in Wellington on July 20th.
About Accoya: Accoya is New Zealand grown Radiata Pine which has been chemically modified through a process called acetylation. This gives the timber exceptional dimensional stability and class 1 durability allowing Accoya to compete with (and usually out-perform) traditionally used hardwoods.
Both events, which focus on this new, high performance construction material and how it has revolutionised building techniques, have been co-organised by Accsys Technologies and Timspec. Timspec are the leading timber importer and distributor in New Zealand and are the official Accoya distributor for New Zealand.
The key points to be covered:
Eddie Pratt, Head of Business Development of Accsys Technologies, said: “Accoya wood combines ‘class 1’ durability, exceptional dimensional stability, improved coatings life and world-leading environmental credentials. These outstanding qualities create exciting opportunities for architects, engineers, developers and specifiers – as one customer recently told us, “the only limit is our imagination”. I’m delighted to be able to present Accoya and its great benefits to new audiences in New Zealand, with dramatic examples of some of the Accoya projects that have been executed across 4 continents. Whether in the award-winning “Moses” and Sneek Bridges in Holland, a major installation at the World Expo in Shanghai or street furniture in the Antipodes and Americas, Accoya offers new possibilities for visionary designers who care about our environment – and a cost effective alternative for non-wood (and treated wood) materials.”
