Boat Building

Accoya® wood’s exceptional dimensional stability and other benefits make it an ideal material for boatbuilding applications. Accoya® wood is far more stable and more durable than even the most exclusive teak. It is warranted for its stability and against rot and decay for 50 years above ground and 25 years in ground, fresh water immersion or even salt water spray. Accoya® wood is non-toxic, meaning care must be taken to protect the wood from marine borers.

Accoya® wood is suitable for boat decking, solid wood components, trimmings and even structural components including in fiberglass sandwich applications. Because Accoya® wood safe and non-toxic, there is no risk of harmful chemicals leaching into the environment.

Accoya® wood is currently commercially available as a pine-based product with hardness and other traits that rival teak. Other Accoya® wood species is currently under development, and Accsys Technologies is seeking species development partners. To enquire about additional Accoya® wood species, please click here
