In Germany, Enno Roggemann provided Accoya® to four key customers so that they could make sample windows and analyse performance in terms of machining and cutting properties, ease of construction, application and adhesion of stains and coatings, compatibility of latches and hinges, dimensional stability, surface hardness, etc. The resounding success of these trials led to the signing of a supply agreement.
The manufacturers were especially impressed by the fact that Accoya's® stability was such that the need for sanding between coats and the amount of coating needed was decreased. In fact, it was impossible to tell the difference between the Accoya®window and a control window that had had more sanding and coating applied. The cost implications of this are obviously very attractive.
