Leading UK window and door manufacturer, Dempsey Dyer, has increased its use of Accoya® following the success of a large project for Bellway Homes. The company will now replace all softwood doors specified with Accoya® timber and will extend its use to other products that require improved stability, durability and coating longevity.
The firm turned to Accoya®, supplied exclusively in UK and Ireland by BSW Timber Limited, for doorsets and window sashes as part of a £130,000 contract to construct 19 townhouses at High House, Purfleet, Essex. The stunning townhouses include five metre high single and double door screens.
Tom Dyer of Dempsey Dyer said the company chose Accoya® after being impressed by the modified wood’s enhanced stability qualities. “This is one of the first projects where Dempsey Dyer has included Accoya® exclusively in doors and windows. Now that Accoya® is on-stream, all doors specified to us in softwood will be supplied in Accoya® and the modified wood will be extended to the rest of our range. Following the outstanding success of Accoya® for Bellway, it is clear that this modified wood will become the material of choice for exterior applications.”

Accoya® has attracted significant interest since the full working stock for joinery, civil and cladding applications was introduced to the UK last year.
